The race starts in Birkenhead Park. It follow a flat route through Wallasey and New Brighton towards the coast and along the sea-front. The following three miles takes runners along the promenade with impressive views of Liverpool across the river. Then, a memorable section of the race as runners head under the River Mersey, passing through the original Mersey Tunnel.
In Liverpool, the route leads runners past the Albert Dock and Liverpool ONE retail centre. Then the route passes the huge Anglican Cathedral. From there runners pass by Sefton Park and Princes Park. The route then returns, via Upper Parliament Street, to Albert Dock once more and then on to the finish line in front of the World Famous Liver Buildings.
