Charity Of The Year

Here are some stories of how our local companies decided to fundraise for East Lancashire Hospice in 2011 and 2012. We hope this inspires you with some ways you can support your local hospice.

Brick Technology Ltd is based in Blackburn and provides web design & development, internet marketing, media production and graphic design expertise. Colin Clarke, Managing Director of Brick heard on the grapevine that we were looking to develop a new website and got in touch. The team at Brick loved the fact they were supporting their local hospice as their Charity of the Year and that they could do something positive to support a charitable organisation on their doorstep. They generously pledged their support and in September 2010 they helped us launch this very website at no cost to East Lancashire Hospice, an incredibly generous gift.

Matalan, Blackburn chose to support their local hospice after hitting their national annual fundraising target in just 6 months. The retail store organised a Halloween Spooktacular and held a Christmas fun weekend and have so far raised over £1,000 for East Lancashire Hospice.

Granby Marketing have been busy holding a number of fundraising events for the hospice including bake sales, win a day off work raffle, quizzes and clothes collections. Some of the team have also taken part in events like Run for All and our Starlight Walk. They have made the hospice their charity of the year for two consecutive years and in 2011, Granby handed over £642.80, proving that small fundraising events can add up to a big total.

Training 2000 LTD have chosen to support the hospice by providing volunteers for events such as bag packing which raised over £6,500 and the Witton Park bonfire which raised over £13,000 for the different charities that attended.

Cardboard Box Company are one of the hospice’s staunchest supporters. From sponsoring our Starlight Walk t-shirts to providing entertainment for our annual hospice ball, our friends at Cardboard Box Company are always there for us.

Blackburn College have pledged to raised approximately £10,000 for the East Lancashire Hospice and donated to The Big Give appeal to have it matched therefore doubling their donation to the hospice.

Rosenberger Micro Coax LTD are supporting the hospice for the second year running. They have taken part in the annual Starlight Walk and Manchester 10k and donated items such as clothes and ink cartridges as well as holding a Bad Dress Day. Their support last year totalled £1283.29.

Whittakers Butchers, Oswaldtwistle are famous for their meat and now for the fabulous amount of money they have raised for the hospice over the years too. The butchers have organised barbecues, attended fetes, sold homemade jam in the shop and provided 2000 sausages for hospice’s Starlight Walk. They continue to come up with fantastic fundraising ideas for the hospice and we are truly grateful for their support.

Darwen Golf Club have taken us on as the charity they are supporting in 2012. They have supported us in the past to the tune of over £1300, and East Lancashire Hospice is very pleased to have them on board again.

Accrington & District Freemasons There is no job too large or too small for the team at Accrington District Freemasons. They marshal the Starlight Walk and Santa Dash, are parking attendants for the Christmas Fayre and also set up all the stalls for the fayre. They collect the buckets from Christmas bag packing and fund the drinks trolley for the patients. The list goes on! They provide help and support for all events and we are grateful for their ongoing support.

Yorkshire Bank (Blackburn, Accrington & Clitheroe) helped us to raise over £1000 in the run up to Christmas 2011 by selling Christmas cards, calendars and diaries. The Clitheroe branch also acted as Santa Dash HQ for our spectacular 2011 Santa Dash.

Brush Strokes have kindly supported the hospice by painting our hospice shop in Darwen and have continued supporting us.

Pentland Distribution Services have supported us by placing collection boxes at all sites and taking part in a sponsored slim, all raising money for the East Lancashire Hospice. Kind-hearted staff also made donations to the hospice instead of sending Christmas cards in 2011, raising over £400. Pentland have also sponsored some of our biannual newsletters, meaning we save on printing costs and the money raised for us can be used where it is needed.

If you feel your company could support us then we would love to hear from you - please call our fundraising team on 01254 733410.
