Add your loved one to our Light up a Life gallery

For the first time, we are giving you the opportunity to add a photograph of your loved ones to a special Light up a Life memorial gallery on our webiste.

Over 40 photographs have already been added to the gallery which has been viewed over 500 times. And anyone can be remembered in the hospice’s Light up a Life appeal, they do not need to have been cared for by the hospice.

Faye and Chris France of Peel Close, Blackburn made a dedication to their friend Samuel Taylor (pictured) and added a photo of Sam onto the gallery of remembrance. Sam passed away aged 31 in the hospice in July after battling cancer.

Faye said: “East Lancs Hospice is very close to our hearts since looking after our friend Sam, known as Sambo. The Light up a Life gallery is a lovely idea for family and friends to see our loved ones and help us to remember happier times with them. The hospice looked after Sambo really well, as well as ourselves and family and friends. They were kind, always welcoming and respectful. Sam’s family and friends thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”

Photographs can be sent to with LUAL in the subject line. Please include your name and the name of the person being remembered. Please note by sending the photograph you are giving the hospice permission for it to be displayed on their website.

The Light up a life Service takes place on Monday 15 December at Blackburn Cathedral. The Christmas tree lights will be switched on by a special guest while everyone holds a candle in their loved one's memory. There will also be specially chosen readings and songs. The service is open to anyone who has took part in Light up a Life this year, is free to attend and no booking is required.

As in previous years anyone who makes a dedication receives a card bearing the name of the person they’ve remembered and an invitation to attend a special service at Blackburn Cathedral. All names will appear in the Light Up A Life Book of Remembrance that will be available to view at East Lancashire Hospice from March 2015.
