The Blackburn we Knew and Loved book launch

All are invited to the launch of this brand new book!

Featuring photographs of how Blackburn used to be, the launch is Friday 18th March at 8.45am. You will be welcomed with bacon sandwiches and tea/coffee.

Foreword writer the Rt Hon Jack Straw will open the launch and signed copies will be available to purchase.

The book has been the dream of Peter Street, owner of the Cardboard Box Company, who is kindly donating all proceeds from the book to East Lancashire Hospice.

All welcome, please book your place by calling 01254 287012

The open market bustled, the famous clock tower chimed and the Easter Fair was a fun-filled family day out. The impressive Thwaites’ Victorian Arcade stood proud in the town centre and local businesses like Mercer’s, Kenyon’s Bakery and Hurst Brothers ruled the high street.

• Rare photographs are reproduced for this limited edition hardback

• Captions written by local historical artist John Chapman

• Foreword by Jack Straw
