A specialist company launched by a man and his mother-in-law making gift bouquets has blossomed beyond belief!
Three years ago Celebrate Gifts was a small stall on Blackburn Market. Now it employs 26 people in an 8,000 sq ft unit in Cannon Street, Accrington. The rapid growth has even shocked owners Paul Bloor and his mum-in-law and business partner Denise Clarkson. And now they are directing the drive and dedication of its mushrooming staff into taking part in the East Lancashire Hospice’s 2018 Corporate Challenge.
Paul said: “I have told everyone that once we have got Mother’s Day out of the way every Friday afternoon will be corporate challenge afternoon and it means them coming up with ideas to raise money. Some can go out and wash cars others can go bag packing. Whatever their ideas I am sure they will raise lots of money.”
The spark that ignited the rise and rise of Celebrate Gifts was placing four chocolate bouquets online. Fifty orders a day were received immediately. Overnight Celebrate Gifts was looking at a national audience and by maximising internet marketing it hit the luxury gift bouquet niche market at the right time.
And an arrangement with Yankee Candle added even more impetus to sales on the build up to last Christmas. So apart from chocolate bouquets Celebrate Gifts now offers a mixture of chocolate, candle and flower bouquets all packaged, wrapped and then delivered by courier from its Accrington base.
Paul said: “Other people have tried to replicate our products. But we have looked at techniques and processes of the whole operation and our expertise more or less guarantees that bouquets arrive as they left our premises. Each and every one of our bouquets is handmade so we can offer personalised ones in a range of colours and bows.”
Now Celebrate Gifts delivers 100,000 bouquets every year across the UK and mainland Europe. For Valentine’s Day alone it despatched over 5,000 bouquets!
Paul’s involvement with the Corporate Challenge was a two-pronged affair. As a business owner he was community minded and that is the reason he is also a sponsor of Accrington Stanley. And secondly, Denise had a friend who passed away at the hospice and both her and Paul now know about the fantastic services that are on offer there.
