East Lancashire Hospice:
East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. The hospice is a unique and special place, kindness and compassion are qualities that run throughout the hospice and our people truly believe in what we do.
Charity Boutique Manager:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our new concept Charity Chic Boutique, Daisy’s for East Lancashire Hospice. In this retail manager’s job you will be doing a variety of tasks including, opening and closing the shop, banking, sorting and pricing donations, recruiting and working with our volunteers. You will also manage staff and plan the rota to ensure adequate cover and work closely with our other hospice services including finance, facilities, fundraising and marketing team and provide up to date information and reports to the head office as required. This job will also be heavily involved in our soon to be launched online sales platform for selling new goods from the Daisy’s store, whilst looking at other opportunities for the hospice service as a whole.
The Successful Candidate:
The successful applicant will be joining us at the beginning of this new journey in our charity retail service and will work with our retail support and volunteers, to provide our shoppers with a great customer experience. It is essential you are a ‘people person’ and take pride in your surroundings whilst striving to achieve the best possible service for our customers. You will need to be forward thinking and actively looking for how we can improve on the service we are currently providing to increase revenue to support the hospice. A positive attitude is essential, as is the ability to work as part of our team and actively participate in the hospice and hospice shops vision and values.
You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a customer focused, face to face role, not necessarily in a charity environment but one where service and quality is paramount. You will have a proven track record of achieving targets and be able to see the value of marketing and actively participate in driving this forward with support from our marketing manager. The successful person must be flexible and able to work weekends.
