East Lancs Hospice
East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Clinical Lead/Ward Manager – Hospice Inpatient Unit
The successful candidate will hold continuous responsibility for the provision of effective and inspirational leadership of the Inpatient Unit team to ensure effective ward organisation, the timely and appropriate assessment of patient needs, and high standards of nursing/clinical care including the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans for those admitted to the unit.
The Successful Candidate
As a registered nurse with overall responsibility of the inpatient unit, you must have previous experience at ward management level or a senior leadership role within a ward environment. You will have highly developed communication, assessment and care planning skills and be able to demonstrate significant understanding of service improvement and change management. Continuous post-registration professional development relevant to the role is expected and experience in and/or education in palliative care or equivalent is desirable. As a strong and effective leader you must be confident in dealing with difficult situations and be passionate about people and driving high standards for those in our care.

The salary for this role is £47,911 working 37.5 hours across 5 days flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Continuation of NHS Pension contributions possible.
