Great North Run
Fancy taking part in the official Virtual Great North Run on Sunday 13 September and raising money on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice. The virtual half marathon is free of charge to enter, regardless of whether you had a place in this year’s Great North Run. Entries are open now.
Although this year is different, you can still Be Your Greatest!
How will it work?
Event organisers will mimic a race format so that all runners start their Virtual Great North Run at the same time and complete the same 13.1 mile distance. Runners will be tracked throughout the virtual race and will be able to view results after the race has finished.
You can run any route that you like, but you must follow all local regulations with regard to rights of way, traffic, hazards, etc. Event organisers politely request that you DON’T try to run the actual GNR route. The actual Great North Run takes place on closed roads, most of which are not accessible to pedestrians at any other time of the year.
Participants who wish to enter on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice need to register in advance by visiting https://www.greatrun.org/great-north-run and then set up a fundraising page at JustGiving Alternatively once you have registered you can contact Fundraising to request a sponsorship pack.
