Healthcare assistant raises £500 on Highland Trek

Health Care Assistant, Michael Brooker-Carey set himself a huge challenge to walk The West Highland Way to raise funds for the hospice, a charity close to his heart.

It took 6 days to walk the 96 miles which included climbing up hill and down dale, and to make the challenge even harder, on the second day of the walk the soles came off his boots after falling on the mountainside so he completed the remaining 8 hour journey that day that left him with cuts to his feet.

A team of 7 started the walk and saw sun, rain, wind, snow but only 5 completed the trail due to injuries. Michael and his dog Jack endured the weather and sore feet to raise £500 for patient care.

Well done on your mammoth challenge Michael!
