East Lancashire Hospice

Heartfelt donation

Wilpshire Golf Club made a heart-felt donation to East Lancashire Hospice, in memory of someone special.

The Hospice was chosen at the golf club’s charity of the year, but the money was donted in memory of Nicol Jayne Phelps – the wife of member Tim Phelps.

The cheque for £2,000 was presented to the hospice at the captain’s end of year event on Saturday.

Tim has been raising money in memory of his wife, who sadly died of cancer in September.

In May last year Nicola was told she had cancer and by early June the family were informed that it was spreading rapidly and there was little chance of survival.

The mum-of-two quickly became seriously ill and spent the last 12 weeks of her life being cared for at the East Lancashire Hospice.

Devastated husband Tim said that while she was at the hospice she received world class care in a loving environment delivered with great skill and compassion.

Nicola passed away on 23rd September.

Tim said: “This has left a huge hole in our lives and no words can describe our sense of loss.

“We want to harness this love and raise some money in memory of Jayne for the East Lancashire Hospice so that other families in the future can benefit from this fantastic caring place in their time of need.”

Tim will be raising money by cycling 53 miles with family and friends -which represents Jayne's age when she fell ill and passed away. So far, £5,029.50 has been raised via Tim’s justgiving page – https://www.justgiving.com/remember/405583/Nicola%20Jayne-Phelps
