One of our supporters beat the Scunthorpe Euromillions couple to a double lottery win – by winning a second £1,000 in the weekly draw.
Miss Joanne Gregory, 44 lives in Accrington with partner Ian and children Ellie, 12 and Robert, 8. She works at Royal Blackburn Hospital in the pharmacy department and has supported the hospice through the lottery for many years.
She won £1000 in October 2013 and treated her children to a share of the money. Her latest £1000 windfall from the the draw on Friday March 27 came as a complete surprise.
She said: “When I got the call it didn’t click at all that I might have won a lottery prize again. I have supported the hospice’s lottery for a long time and when my colleagues were winning small amounts here and there I even thought about checking my number was still in the draw each week. Then I won the first £1,000. But I really didn’t expect to win again.
“When I heard in the news that the couple from Scunthorpe won twice on the Euromillions, it just shows that like me, just because you win once, doesn’t mean you can’t win again.
“It’s come at a good time for us. I can treat the kids over Easter and it will pay for me to have some work done on my car as well as treating myself a little too.”
The hospice’s lottery costs just £1 per week and players can be in with the chance of winning a rollover prize of £8250 in next week’s draw (April 10) as well as additional prizes of £1,000, £100 and 15 lots of £10. Everyone who is a member of the lottery is providing a regular donation which helps to make a difference to our patients and their families. To join call 01254 733416 or click here.
