Latest lottery winner is singing in the rain!

A carer from Blackburn is singing in the rain after she scooped the hospice lottery jackpot for the second time.
Maggie Rollinson, 59 celebrates her £1,000 win six years after she won her first grand.
The Britten Close resident who has been a hospice supporter for almost a decade has completed all 8 Starlight Walks, but will miss this year’s even due to illness. She said that she likes to help the hospice because of its close location to her: “With living so close, you can see the benefit of your giving. I take things to their charity shops and collect my loose change as well. It belongs to all of us so we should support it.”
Maggie was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease in 1985 and underwent successful treatment. Although she didn’t use the hospice services she said you never know when they might be needed.
She joined the hospice lottery in 2005 and won £100 the year after, but tried to keep tight-lipped about her latest windfall. She said: “I was at my mother-in-laws for her birthday when they called me. I tried to act casual but couldn’t hide my joy and told my husband. I announced it to all my friends on Saturday too – I was trying to keep it quiet but I couldn’t help myself!”
Maggie plans to spend her winnings on a holiday and urged people to sign up to the lottery to support their local hospice. She said: “It’s brill that I’ve won again, but it could be anyone. It’s helping a local good cause and you could win like I have.”
The lottery costs £1 per week and anyone aged over 16 can register. Sign up by clicking here or call 01254 733416.
