East Lancashire Hospice

Something to get your teeth into!

Following a substantial refurbishment of the kitchen and restaurant, East Lancashire Hospice is creating a ‘destination café’ with the aim of creating food that makes people feel better - and we are looking for a new head chef!

Denise Williams, Development & Support Services Manager at the hospice, explains: “We see food as an essential part of improving the wellbeing of patients and their families, but we also want to create a bistro-feel, open to everyone and not just patients.

“We all know how beneficial a meal out with friends or family is, and the comfort we get from a loved one’s special recipe – and that’s what we want to recreate here at the hospice.

“We aim to use food to help our patients and their families feel better”

The seasonal menu will feature fresh ingredients with vegetables and herbs grown at the hospice.

Denise added: “We want food to be more than just fuel. We want it to enhance people’s wellbeing and be therapeutic – and we’re looking to hire someone who shares that vision.

“We are looking for a chef who can lead and manage a team, cook alongside the other chefs and create a catering service that serves not just good food but good memories too.”

The position, which boasts family friendly hours, is ideal for a chef looking to take their career to the next level, make a difference and get a real sense of job satisfaction.

Denise said: “The catering staff at East Lancashire Hospice get great satisfaction from creating meals with love that bring families together to create lasting happy memories.”

We plan to have the new appointment in place by April to coincide with the opening of the new kitchen.

The deadline for applications is Monday 12 March. For more information see our job vacancies page https://eastlancshospice.org.uk/head-of-catering-2 or email denise.williams@eastlancashirehospice.org.uk
