The Buck Inn

There’s no doubt about it, Charlotte Flynn is no stranger to testing tasks so she will take the East Lancashire 2018 Corporate Challenge in her stride.

She only took over the running of her mum’s pub The Buck Inn, in the pretty village of Grindleton, last October and has been pleased at her success so far. Her mum Andrea Flynn bought The Buck six years ago and for a while allowed a manager to run the business.

However, Charlotte, who has lived in pubs since she was two-years-old, decided it was time she put her licensed trade experience to the test and run The Buck Inn herself – single handedly!

And one of the first decisions she made was to join the Corporate Challenge.

Charlotte said: “Hopefully, we will be on the route of the Rotary Club’s Ribble Valley pub walk which raises money for the hospice. If not we will organise our own sponsored walk like we had at the pub a couple of years ago for another charity.

“Also we are planning a few events at which we will raise more cash for the hospice. We are organising regular monthly quizzes and in April we are promoting a gin tasting night at the Buck.”

Charlotte hopes to raise anything between £600 and £1,000. She said: “I know our staff and customers will all rally round to raise as much as they can.”

Charlotte left her role at the Holmes Mill pub in Clitheroe to take over the reins of the friendly and cosy village Buck Inn free house pub. Her partner Daniel only helps out in an emergency as he has his own business to run. But it was Daniel who put the Corporate Challenge idea to Charlotte after hearing about it at a BNI meeting.

Looking after the kitchen is experienced chef Graham Fell who has prepared a tasty menu that is on offer from Wednesday to Sunday each week.

Already while Charlotte has been in charge she has started taking bookings for christenings, funerals, engagements and birthday parties. She said: “We are now in a position to cater for all kinds of parties and in summer we will be operating our attractive beer garden.”
