East Lancs Hospice

East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With appro­ximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremen­do­usly. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. Therapy Assistant

As Support and Wellbeing services emerge from the restrictions placed on them by the coronavirus pandemic we are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a therapy assistant in a rapidly developing Creative and Support Therapy Department. Working with colleagues and volunteers and with the support of a team leader you will be able to design and deliver bespoke wellbeing programmes for our patients on a group or individual basis.

The Successful Candidate

Will have a strong interest and experience in therapeutic and creative inter­ven­tions and understands the benefits that can be delivered through these. We are looking for an adaptable enthusiastic individual who is prepared to positively embrace change and new ways of working. An empathetic, sensitive non- judgemental approach is key as is being a good listener and having a good sense of humour. As this role will involve some elements of personal care including for example supporting people to use the toilet, experience of care provision advan­tageous.

What we offer

The salary for the post is £17,833 (£9.14 per hour pro-rata) and the hours will be worked on a rota basis of up to any 5 days of a 7 day working week.
