East Lancs Hospice

East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. The hospice is a unique and special place, kindness and compassion are qualities that run throughout the hospice and our people truly believe in what we do.

Therapy Assistant

As Support and Wellbeing services emerge from the restrictions placed on them by the coronavirus pandemic we are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a therapy assistant to join our rapidly developing team. Working with colleagues, volunteers and with the support of a team leader you will be able to contribute to the design and delivery of bespoke wellbeing programmes for our patients and facilitate groups or individual sessions on a delegated basis.

The Successful Candidate

Will have a strong interest and experience in therapeutic and creative interventions and understands the benefits that can be delivered through these. We are looking for an adaptable enthusiastic individual who is prepared to positively embrace change and new ways of working. An empathetic, sensitive non- judgemental approach is key as is being a good listener and having a good sense of humour. In order to meet the complex needs of some of our patients this role will involve elements of personal care for example supporting people to use the toilet, experience of care provision an advantage

The salary for the post is £18,753 (£9.62 per hour pro-rata) and the hours will be worked on a rota basis of up to any 5 days of a 7 day working week.
