East Lancashire Hospice

Tree-mendous fundraiser

A park became a party scene as music fans danced the night away for a good cause.

Blackburn’s Witton Park hosted Restricted Forest festival on Saturday, featuring dance, house, old skool music – and more than double the number of attendees as last year.

Organiser Alex Lawrenson said: It has been very stressful but we got there in the end. We’ve gone bigger and harder this year.

£The crowd doubled so it’s more pressure but everyone seemed to have a good time so it was worth it.

The festival included performances from renowned DJs and exhibitors.

Fundraiser Caitlin Jones joined with the organisers who agreed to donate £1 from every ticket purchased to support East Lancashire Hospice.

Miss Jones has been fundraising for the hospice since the death of her father, Nigel, from lung cancer in 2008.

The 21-year-old said “My dad would have loved this. He would have been in his element. He loved al this type of music.”

MP for Rossendale and Darwen Jake Berry stopped in for an hour.

He said: “It’s great to see someone of her age getting involved with fundraising that other young people will enjoy.”
