East Lancs Hospice:

East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With appro­ximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremen­do­usly. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. The hospice is a unique and special place, kindness and compassion are qualities that run throughout the hospice and our people truly believe in what we do.

Staff Nurse – Palliative Care:

We have a wonderful opportunity for a forward thinking, enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse, with an interest in palliative care and end of life care to join our friendly and supportive Inpatient Unit Team. The successful Staff Nurse will be responsible for the assessment planning and evaluation of effective programmes of care and the subsequent delivery of care patients, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice at all times. You will be required to maintain clear accurate docum­en­ta­tion, attend meetings as appropriate and liaise with external healthcare profes­si­onals. Due to the nature of care we provide, you will be expected to prioritise your own workload and direct as appropriate the work load of others based upon patient need ensuring patients and their loved ones receive the highest standards of care at all times.

The Successful Candidate:

You will demonstrate excellent standards of assessment, care planning and evaluation of inter­ven­tions to ensure the needs and choices of people accessing hospice services are met.

You will have substantial experience of working within a caring role and have supported patients with life limiting illness. With good commu­nica­tion skill you will be able to work as part of a team and relate with under­standing and sensitivity to those experiencing life changing illness.
