Working with healthcare professionals

At East Lancashire Hospice, we believe the best care is delivered together.

We work closely with healthcare professionals across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley, sharing knowledge, experience and expertise to support professionals in caring for people with complex and palliative needs.

Working in partnership

We collaborate with GPs, district nurses, care homes, community teams and other healthcare providers to support care in the community. These partnerships help improve understanding, strengthen skills and ensure people are supported in the right place, at the right time.

Our specialist team is always ready to offer advice, guidance and support, working alongside colleagues to provide training, help manage symptoms, plan care, and respond to changing needs.

Medical and student placements

We are proud to support the development of future healthcare professionals.
East Lancashire Hospice offers medical placements for healthcare professionals and students, working closely with universities and training providers. These placements provide valuable experience in palliative and end of life care, offering insight into holistic, person-centred support.

Students and professionals joining us as part of a placement become part of our wider team – learning from experienced clinicians, gaining practical knowledge, and seeing how compassionate care makes a real difference.

Supporting learning and development

Alongside placements, we provide training and education opportunities for healthcare professionals working across the community. Our courses are designed to be practical, supportive and grounded in real experience.
