Modern Slavery Statement-  August 2022

Modern slavery can take place in a wide range of employment sectors, including healthcare. People using or in contact with hospice services may also be victims of modern slavery or human trafficking. The hospice has a role in identifying victims of modern slavery and human trafficking and engaging with community partners to safeguard these individuals.

We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our approach to tackling modern slavery that align with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same high standards from all of our internal and external partners and suppliers, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our partners will hold their own business relationships to the same high standards.

This policy statement applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, managers, officers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, agents, contractors, external consultants, third-party representatives and business partners.

This policy statement does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment and we may amend it at any time.

Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, will be referred to the police and safeguarding board which could result in dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct. We may discontinue our relationship with other individuals and organisations working on our behalf if they breach this policy.

We are committed to improving awareness of the practices necessary to combat slavery and human trafficking and to continually assess the risk profile of our business in these areas. We aim to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place.

Everyone associated with the hospice is encouraged to report any concerns regarding slavery and/or human trafficking in accordance with our raising concerns and safeguarding policies which are available on request.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our anti-slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 30 April 23.
