East Lancashire Hospice

Gabrielle's Story

Gabrielle Close, an aspiring primary scgabby 1hool teacher, is gearing up to take on the Manchester Marathon this spring in support of East Lancashire Hospice. At just 21 years old, Gabrielle is currently studying to become a teacher and wants to give something back to her community. “I want to give back to a charity that plays such a vital role in our area, as I’ve seen the positive impact it has on our community.”

Gabrielle's uncle, Brendon, was cared for by the hospice and his death left a lasting impact on Gabrielle and her family, particularly her grandmother and mother, who were supported by the hospice team during challenging times.

She expressed “I know several individuals who have experienced exceptional care and support and I am inspired by the invaluable work they do to help families during difficult times.”

Gabrielle is determined to give back to the organisation that once gave her family so much support. To make her marathon campaign even more impactful, she has been actively fundraising in her local community. As a talented Irish dancer, she has used her skills to organise a series of small fundraising events, entertaining audiences while raising awareness for the hospice. Gabrielle has been touring local care homes and event spaces in the area, performing Irish dancing to generate funds for her cause.

Through her efforts, Gabrielle is not only preparing to tackle the physical challenge of running a marathon, but also showcasing her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others. To support her fundraising efforts please donate here:
