Diane sky-dives into fundraising!

Diane Cobb, 56, from Baxenden will be taking part in the 15,000 ft skydive, organised by East Lancashire Hospice, in July.

The last 12 months have been heart breaking for Diane, who has lost her husband Christopher Cobb, as well as dad Michael Morris, sister-in-law Anne MCintosh and mum Ursula Morris. All her relatives were cared for by East Lancashire Hospice, a charity she has pledged to raise £10,000 for.

The mum-of-four began fundraising when her husband, known as ‘Cobby’, died from prostate cancer in May 2018 after battling the illness for three years.

Since his death, Diane has thrown herself into fundraising for ‘Cobby’s Charities’. She raised £10,000 through a family fun day, which was split equally between East Lancashire Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The skydive, due to be held on 7th July 2019, marks one year after her sister-in-law, Ann, died from cancer.

Diane said: “I don’t even like flying. I wanted to do something really big that people would take notice of and want to donate to. If my husband was here, he might have tried to talk me out of it, but I know he would be proud. I’m sure of it.”

Diane and daughter Samantha, 34, have also arranged a Ladies Day at their local pub Dog and Partridge, a raffle and another family fun day.

She added: “It humbles me to think about how much East Lancashire Hospice cared for my family, they were so well looked after. The staff soon become like your family and a part of your support network. I’ll always be fundraising for Cobby’s Charities.”
