Husband and wife's uphill challenge for the hospice
A husband-and-wife duo pulled on their walking boots and tackled the Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge with friends to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice.
Toni and husband Kenny completed the tiring trek in the blistering heat on a particularly sunny spring day in just under 12 hours. Before their mammoth walk had even begun, they were faced with another challenge and had to deal with a flat tyre on route.
Despite lots of aches and pains and bothersome blisters along the way, they soldiered on with a smile and raised an impressive £627.50 for the hospice.
Toni emphasized: “I really am super proud. I was tempted to go back to the car at the 2nd peak but just kept focused on the finish and the thought of not letting anyone down who had sponsored us. It’s feels amazing now to have done it, now the aches and pains are easing.”
Hospice Marketing and Fundraising Assistant, Lucinda Bury, commented: “Toni and Kenny did absolutely amazing - their challenge was no easy feat and the funds raised will make a huge difference at a time when the hospice needs it most. Thank you both so much and well done!”
