VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
Role Kitchen hand Volunteer
Location Café Retreat/East Lancashire Hospice
Accountable to: Hospitality and catering lead
(They will be your main point of contact while
volunteering. They will provide you with the support
and supervision necessary for you to perform your role)
Role requirements: Two Satisfactory references
Role Summary
With supervision and direction of the catering department to undertake duties including washing pots and pans, operating dish washer, cleaning crockery and cutlery, maintaining high levels of cleanliness and following a cleaning schedule maintaining light machinery. Ensuring the dining area is clean and well equipped for our guests to have the best dining experience.
When we need you to be available
The expected regular commitment for this role would be any of the following 2/3 hour shifts Monday – Friday 9.00-12.00, 12.00-15.00 or 15.00-1700
What we would like you to do
- Maintain excellent levels of customer care
- Wash pots and pans efficiently to high standard
- Wash crockery and cutlery
- Operate dish washer
- Carry out cleaning tasks in the kitchen, following a cleaning schedule
- Maintain storage areas
- Follow health and safety regulations
- Follow correct manual handling To ensure adequate stock of polished crockery, cutlery, napkins are available at all times for our guests
- Support catering staff in serving guests in café Retrea
- Follow our policies and procedures applicable to the role so you can keep yourselves and others safe
- Work at all times to safeguard the rights of individuals promoting their wellbeing and protecting those at risk from harm, acting on any concerns related to safeguarding children and adults at risk in line with policy and local guidance
- To complete our in house Blue Steam mandatory training modules - Accident and Incident Reporting / Adult Life Support Level 2 / COSHH / Cyber Security / Safeguarding Adults / Safeguarding Children / Preventing Radicalisation / Mental Capacity Act / Information Governance / Fire Safety / GDPR / Domestic Abuse / Equality & Diversity / Principles of Health & Safety
