Work experience and learning placements
The hospice is often asked to provide work or learning experience placements to individuals or groups. We try to support these requests within our limited capacity to ensure students have a valuable learning experience and to inform people of our services, fundraising activities and volunteering opportunities.
We are able to offer some offer bespoke work experience placements to students studying at Blackburn College under our memorandum of understanding. All requests for placements should be directed via the college who will contact the appropriate service manager at the hospice.
Individual students not studying at Blackburn College should provide the following information:
- Where they are studying
- What course they are studying for
- The learning objectives of the placement
- The length of the placement
- The days and time they will be available to attend the Hospice
These requests should be sent by email to Denise Williams, Development and Support Services Manager, email@example.com. All requests will be considered by the senior management team and a response provided by email. Please note capacity to provide placements is limited.
We also provide learning placements to student nurses via the University of Central Lancashire. We do not have the capacity to support student nurses studying at other universities.
We can provide awareness sessions to groups of students by arrangement. A typical session would be up to 3 hours long and include: a tour of the hospice, an overview of the services we provide, volunteering opportunities, fundraising initiatives and a question and answer session. To arrange a session suitable to your needs please contact Denise Williams Development and Support Services Manager by email firstname.lastname@example.org
