Back of the net for a loved friend, family member and dad

In January 2022, Lee Liversidge suffered a heart attack and after having an emergency stent fitted and thinking his health was improving, he started to suffer with lower back pain.

In July 2022, Lee was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer.  The diagnosis was terminal and the hope was to manage the cancer to prolong Lee's life and to enable him to do the things he wanted and be comfortable.

Unfortunately the cancer was more progressed and aggressive than Lee initially thought.  In a short 10 weeks, he sadly passed away at the young age of 50.

Lee and family were supported emotionally and practically by the hospice.

Lee's family said, "They provided a lifeline to assist in providing care and support day and night when we needed, the option was also given for Lee to access the Inpatient Unit.  This was alongside the nursing and consultant support he was already receiving. Counselling and therapies were provided to emotionally support us in such a difficult time." 

They continued, "Nothing was too much trouble for the hospice to support us, they provided some reassurance and opened channels to have difficult conversations that people often avoid. The support from East Lancs Hospice is invaluable and without the service, the living nightmare could have felt so much worse."

To thank the hospice team and raise money in memory of Lee, his family and friends have organised a football tournament, which will be taking place at Clitheroe Football Club on 30th July.
