Big shoes to fill at hospice shop!
There are some big shoes to fill at one of our hospice shops. Nobody has left the team though – a pair of size 18 trainers were donated by a kind supporter.
The unusually large shoes have gone on sale along with the more moderate shoe sizes usually available at the Blackburn hospice shop.
Manager Louise said they are the biggest shoes she’s ever seen!
She said the donation arrived with other goods and the bag of items looked unassuming until they started to check through the stock: "We don't think it wasn't the owner who brought them in because we might have noticed him. We are grateful for all donations and I am sure we will find a good home for these trainers although the number of potential buyers is clearly limited. They are in excellent condition and look like they have hardly been worn."
Other unusual donation received across the seven hospice shops include; half a set of false teeth, a re-born doll, a Ford Ka, 18 small perspex boxes containing replica insects, an adult board game and a pair of ladies perspex shoes with flowers in the heels.
Last year our hospice shops made a turnover of £500,000 for the first time, with profit from the shops keeping the hospice running for 22 days.
If you have items to donate, whether they are usual or unusual they will be gratefully received at any of our shops.
