Celebrating 40 Years of East Lancashire Hospice
East Lancashire Hospice is celebrating its 40th year, marking four decades of care for individuals and their families facing life-limiting illnesses in Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, and the Ribble Valley.
Founded by Dr. Merton Seigleman, the hospice first opened its doors on June 21st, 1984, becoming the first hospice in East Lancashire. Since its inception, East Lancashire Hospice has significantly expanded its services, continuously evolving to meet the needs of the community.
To celebrate this remarkable milestone, East Lancashire Hospice has launched several commemorative initiatives such as their 40th anniversary logo which has been designed to mark this significant year. A Hospice Gin has also been crafted, offering supporters a tasteful way to celebrate and support the hospice.
A book named ‘The 40 Faces of East Lancashire Hospice’ which celebrates 40 extraordinary individuals who have contributed to the hospice's success over the years has been created, highlighting the impact and dedication of staff, volunteers, supporters and the local community.
A ‘40 for 40 Fundraising Pack’ has been launched, encouraging community and business involvement with creative and meaningful ways to support the hospice. Staff and volunteers have also delved into the hospice's heritage, sharing stories and milestones that have shaped its journey over the last four decades.
The celebrations continued at the hospice’s 40th Garden Party, which was held in the hospice gardens on Sunday, 30th June 2024. The event was a great success, with guests enjoying entertainment and live music, a gallery, hog roast, gin bar and refreshments. The garden party was a joyous occasion, bringing together supporters, donors, volunteers, staff and the community, reflecting on the last four decades of East Lancashire Hospice.
