Clitheroe Shop Re-opens for Business

East Lancashire Hospice is pleased to have opened the doors to its Clitheroe charity shop after being closed for several months since the lockdown measures were put into place, and is now encouraging shoppers to take a look and support their local charity.

The shop on Moore Lane, Clitheroe, remained closed until last week, due to safety measures that needed to be put into place to ensure the safe taking and storing of donations, re-arrangement of stock and fittings and volunteer hours to cover the opening times.

This has seen the charity lose thousands of pounds in sales over recent months, and with shop and warehouse sales being one of the main sources of income generation that helps to provide essential funds to care for patients who need the hospice services along with the cancellation of all events, there were sighs of relief as the customers once again walked over the threshold.

Retail Sales Lead Dawn Neary said, “The safety of our staff, volunteers and customers has always been at the forefront of everything we do so taking this into consideration we have worked behind the scenes to ensure we have the donations and stock for the season we are now in to be able to offer our customers good quality clothing and items at a fraction of the price. In our Clitheroe shop, we even have a bridal section that includes stunning wedding gowns, mother of the bride outfits, shoes and hats. We also sell new jewellery and scarves. Every purchase you make at any of our shops that also include Bridge Street Darwen and our furniture warehouse on Brunswick Street Blackburn, helps us to raise the money we need and there has never been a more important time than now.”

The hospice has adapted its services to ensure patients and families are still cared for and supported throughout.
