Daisy braves November in shorts in aid of East Lancashire Hospice
Daisy Draper, aged 11 years old is raising money for East Lancashire Hospice all throughout November by wearing shorts all day, every day, even in bed at night!
Daisy who is from Sheffield decided to take on this incredible challenge after both her Granny, Susan Walsh and her Grandpa, John Roberts, who were from Feniscowles and Darwen respectively, were cared for in the hospice.
And Daisy, who is one of their three grandchildren, is being cheered on all the way by her two little brothers Arthur aged 7 and Stanley aged 5!
Daisy’s mum, Faye Draper, also originally from Feniscowles, explains what the care they received from East Lancashire Hospice meant to them as a family and why Daisy decided to take on this fantastic challenge “Daisy’s Grandpa passed away in February 2017 after receiving invaluable support as an Outpatient and then finally as an Inpatient. Daisy’s Granny spent 8 weeks at the hospice earlier this summer, where she was cared for with such kindness & respect. Daisy was able to visit her Granny whilst she was in the hospice and saw first-hand how well the staff & volunteers looked after her, ensuring she was happy and comfortable. Daisy feels very sad to have lost both her grandparents at such a young age and now wants to do something positive in their memory”.
Katie Elliott – Fundraising and Marketing Lead at East Lancashire Hospice commented “It is absolutely wonderful to know that Daisy is fundraising for the hospice. Our supporters range from the younger to the older generation and we could not do what we do without each and every one of them. We were delighted to hear about Daisy’s challenge and really admire her braving the cold weather throughout November, all in aid of such a good cause. From everyone here at East Lancashire Hospice, we wish her the very best of luck!”
Daisy has raised and incredible £1,600 so far, all of which will go directly towards the provision of patient care here at East Lancashire Hospice.
