Friends put best foot forward for East Lancashire Hospice

                                                                joanie and jill

Joanie Sudall and friend Jill McFadden completed a 20k walk on 14 November to raise money fo for East Lancashire Hospice. The idea of the fundriaisng challenge came about when Joanie’s partner, Paul Fitzpatrick usually organsies a fundraising da at The Hare and Hounds, West End, but due to COVID restrictions this could not go ahead.

The two friends still wanted to do something to support the hospice, especially since the hospice taking a loss due to the pandemic. When Joanie and Jill made the plan to do a 20k walk, they set themselves a target of raising £1,000 but when completing the walk, they found they had raised an incredible £1,782.50 thanks to their friend and family.

Joanie said, “ The walk went well considering that we’re getting on a bit and had a tough couple of years. I won’t let it hold me back though. Jill and I, and a lot of our friends and family know how much the hospice means to so many people in our community and we will continue to support them as much as we can.”

Leanne Green, fundraiser for East Lancashire Hospcie said, “We are extremely gratful for the the ongoing support we receive from The Hare and Hounds Pub, West End and we know how much they love organising their fundraising day, so felt their frustration when it couldn’t go ahead this year. It didn’t stop Joanie and Jill taking on their own challenge to make sure the hospice still received donations and I cannot thank the community enough for the support the hospice has received.”
