Meet Our Apprentices - Daniel Johnson
Daniel Johnson started working at East Lancashire Hospice charity shop in Darwen through Kickstart in October 2021. Daniel is no stranger to volunteering and really values his present placement. “I used to volunteer here so I know everyone. I’ve gained lots of experience doing lots of different things, and I like the variety of tasks I can do each day. I do a lot of the online selling for the shop of their books, DVDs and even CDs.”
Michelle the Darwen store manager speaks highly of Daniel. “Daniel has learned lots of retail skills whilst here and has really come out of his shell. He picks up things quickly. His key contribution is his online selling and he helps to generate a lot of income for the shop and East Lancashire Hospice through his hard work.”
Daniel has learned about stock rotation, customer service, using the till, and working as part of a team. Michelle added “I have seen a real difference with Daniel and he picks up things quickly. He is keen, reliable and an excellent timekeeper.” Daniel is hoping his newfound skills and experience will help him find a permanent role in the future.
