Swimming for an incredible man

This June, father and daughter, Jim Chatburn and Chloe Rose will be getting more than their toes wet as they swim Lake Windermere to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice this June.

In 2019, Chloe’s brother and Jim’s step-son, Lee Ryan, was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 36 and sadly lost his battle in August 2022 at the age of 39. Lee was known by so many to be a generous, kind and loving man who would do anything for anyone. He was a family man and a great dad. He dedicated himself to the people around him and made sure he surrounded people with laughter and love.

During Lee’s last few months, he was cared for by East Lancashire Hospice. Chloe said, “The hospice didn’t just look after him, they looked after us as a family as well. We are all so grateful for the care and dedication shown by the staff and volunteers.”

She continued, “Because of the care and compassion shown, my dad and I wanted to do something to support the hospice, and that is why we have decided to complete the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere this June. Hopefully we can raised a great amount for the hospice in memory of an incredible man, who I am so proud to have called my brother.”
