Wendy’s Legacy continues

Family run business, Ainsworth Jewellers, are celebrating having reached the finals of the coveted UK Jewellery Awards 2022.

The Blackburn based firm that has been in business for over 150 years, has been shortlisted in the Best Marketing / Social media Campaign or Collaboration of the Year category for its work and launch of Wendy’s Legacy.

Wendy’s Legacy was born in association with East Lancashire Hospice after the sad passing of dear friend and lifelong customer of Ainsworth Jewellers, Wendy in 2020

Wendy loved her jewellery and in her honour, Phil and Helen Ainsworth launched the campaign and unique service that will allow jewellery left behind by loved ones to be treasured forever.  The initiative will see the couple utilise their network of workshops to resize items such as rings and bracelets; to remodel jewellery or even to create bespoke items utilising the gemstones passed on with a 15% profit contribution to the East Lancashire Hospice which cared for Wendy.

To date, the initiative has already raised over £500 and with more awareness of the campaign, it is hoped this will double in just a few months whilst also keeping alive treasured memories embodied by jewellery which can be passed from generation to generation.

Phil and Helen Ainsworth said: “We are over the moon, humbled and honoured that Wendy’s Legacy has been recognised in this way.  It is an initiative very close to our hearts and really embodies what we do every day in ensuring life, love and passion is captured in jewellery.    Wendy loved remodelling jewellery she had inherited and she was passionate that everybody should enjoy wearing jewellery as much as she did; so we really do think this is a fitting memorial and tribute to her.”

The UK Jewellery Awards will be taking place on Thursday, 1st September at a black tie event at the Hilton London Metropole.  Now in their 30th year, the UK Jewellery awards bring together the crème de la crème of the industry and is being held in association with The Betts Group. The awards are set to be a premier night of celebration for the entire trade, recognising and rewarding excellence in 21 categories, spanning everything from retail and design through to customer service and supply.
