East Lancashire Hospice

Counting down the miles

Laura Cameron has been training for the London Marathon, which is just 2 over weeks away, to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice after the care given to her sister, Louise Mayoh and the aftercare and support to all her family

“The big day is speeding round fast! But I’m well prepared now, I’ve completed all my longest runs and so now I’ll wind down slowly ready for the big day.

Laura CameronI’m feeling very excited but also very nervous, the nerves I hope are a good thing and I’m sure they’ll disappear as soon as we set off. I know I’m now capable to complete the marathon, thanks to my training plan. It’s been a lot of time and effort, but I’ve had great people running with me and lots of encouragement and motivation.

Coming along to support on the day, will be my husband and children and also Louise’s husband and boys. So it’ll be very emotional, but we have our celebrations planned for when I finish, I can’t wait to see them all on the finish line and raise a glass of Prosecco to a very special lady, Louise.

Training runs have given me a lot of time to think as I’m running and I’m just so grateful for the opportunity that East Lancashire Hospice have given me to take part in the marathon. I shall do it for Louise, the hospice and all my friends and family who are constantly offering kind words of encouragement, it really makes me feel so proud and grateful so thank you very much.”
