East Lancashire Hospice

Corporate Challenge 2022

The East Lancashire Hospice welcomed eighteen incredible businesses along to the hospice for the launch of this year’s Corporate Challenge, on Monday 25th April 2022.

The businesses surrounding Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley all met and networked before they were each given £50 to kick start their fundraising, donated by this year’s sponsor and local business, Nybble IT Solutions.

Ram Gupta, Managing Director of Nybble IT Solutions, has supported the hospice for many years and won the Corporate Challenge in 2018. As the Corporate Sponsor of this year’s challenge, Ram has shown his support more than ever by donating £50 to all eighteen companies taking part and will represent the Corporate Challenge and the hospice at some of the company events.

Ram said, “Everyone has something they think is their heaven. When you need your hair cut the barbers is your heaven, when you need fuel the petrol station is your heaven, when it’s my turn for the end of life, East Lancashire Hospice will be my heaven. The services here allow patients to make the most of life, a time where families can be families again and not carers. If we can all help in raising as much money as we possibly can for those people who need it most, we are contributing in helping people and their lives.”

Steve Almond, who is the Corporate Challenge Ambassador for East Lancashire Hospice this year, also spoke at the launch about his experience of the hospice, after the amazing care that was given to his wife Anita. “The hospice needs to raise £4million per year, that equates to £11,000 a day and that is £7.50 per minute this charity needs to raise to run its services and provide the care I know first-hand is incredible!” Steve spoke at the launch for ten minutes and finishes by donation a further £80 towards the Corporate Challenge as his time spent speaking that morning

The eighteen businesses, all from different industries and of different sizes, are given four months to turn their £50 into as much as they possibly can to support patient care and the services the hospice run. Fundraising can include anything from cake sales, dress downs and much more. Many of the businesses have lots already planned to make their mark at the top of the Corporate Challenge leader board. But who will be the winner when the challenge ends in August?

Leanne Green, Fundraising and Lottery Team Leader at East Lancashire Hospice said, “We are all very excited about the return of the Corporate Challenge. It costs £4million a year to run our services and support patients and their families in making the most of life and each company taking part will play a huge role in raising as much as they possibly can.”

She continued, “At the breakfast launch, it was great to hear that everyone is raring to go and all hungry to win. Many companies have so much planned already, from golf days, sky dives and even donating their time back to help around the hospice. We look forward to offering our full support to all taking part and good luck to everyone.”
