Fantastic family fun day raises over 1K!

Cheque Beth

Bethany Graham from Blackburn organised a family fun day at the Hub in Shadsworth in support of East Lancashire Hospice.

The event was held in memory of Beth’s grandmother, Marlene Lettherd, who was supported by the hospice when she was diagnosed with cancer. Beth said: “When my Nan found out that her cancer was terminal, she asked to be admitted to East Lancashire Hospice. This is because the hospice is a very calm and peaceful place for end of life care. Whilst she was in the hospice, she got everything she asked for; they treated her like royalty.

“My Nan made a close connection with the amazing staff who work there, as did my whole family, because they provided support to all of us and cared for my Nan during her last few days.”

Attractions on the day included a tombola, raffle, face painting, lots of sweet treats, food and drinks and over 25 stalls. Peppa Pig, Ryder from Paw Patrol, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse also made special guest appearances.

Beth said: “It was my promise to my Nan that I would continue to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice in memory of her, for all the love and care the staff gave not just my Nan, but to the whole family. This was the reason behind the Family Fun Day – I’d always joined in with the Hospice’s Starlight Walk each year that it was on, and when that came to an end I decided to host my own event to raise money for the hospice.”

In total, a staggering £1,025.54 was raised from the event.

Lucinda Bury, Marketing and Fundraising Assistant at the hospice, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Beth for hosting such a fabulous family fun day. The community spirit and support from everyone made the day a real success, raising an eye-watering £1,025.54. It’s support like this that allows us to continue providing specialised palliative and end-of-life care to people across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.”
