East Lancashire Hospice

A Hair-Raising Success

Kind-hearted Linda Dobson celebrated her 70th birthday in style as she shaved off her lovely locks to raise thousands of pounds for East Lancashire Hospice with five of her friends at her local, The Railway Pub in Huncoat.

Linda shaved off her hair after seeing a number of close friends battle with cancer and lose their hair after chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She was joined by landlord Phil Taylor, Pauline Dawber, Christine Leeming, Neil Broadhurst and Nick Worden.

Nick Worden went the extra mile and took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge before the big shave with his son, Aaron, to help towards the total raised for the hospice.

Everyone rallied together to help make the event a success as there was a barbeque, tombola and raffle on the day of the charity head shave.

In total, an incredible £7,016.89 was raised from the event. Last year, the pub raised £3,360.50 from a charity canal walk which brings the total raised in the past two years to over £10,000.
