Community dinner raises cash for charity
Kind-hearted restaurant staff have been praised for hosting a free carer’s community dinner in October.
The Balti House in Rishton invited 70 carers in the local area to a delicious complementary two-course dinner with refreshments to thank them for all that they do for those in need.
Carers each paid a £5 meal deposit to book a place at the community dinner which staff assured they would be reimbursed in full for on the night. Those that attended the free event asked the curry house to donate their meal deposits to East Lancashire Hospice in Blackburn. Along with an additional donation from the restaurant, a total of £200 was raised for the hospice from the meal.
Hussain Rashid, who runs the restaurant with his brother said: “Our carer's community dinner last week really showed us how selfless and giving these members of the community are. It was great to be able to treat carers from the local area and to also show some support to East Lancashire Hospice.
“You never know when you, or your family, might need the hospice. It's nice to be able to help in whatever way we can.”
