Covid Pandemic Impact Appeal Surpasses £100k!
East Lancashire Hospice has today confirmed that the total raised to date for the Covid Pandemic Impact Appeal, which launched on 15th February 2021, has surpassed the staggering £100,000 mark!
A whopping £76,362 of this incredible total has been raised through the generosity of the local community who have been donating, whilst a further £24,479 has been raised so far on Anita Almond’s JustGiving page. Anita’s story is integral to the campaign and illustrates how the care and support provided by the hospice can make a real difference to the lives of its patients and their families
Upon hearing the fantastic news, Steve Almond, Anita’s husband, who kindly allowed the hospice to share Anita’s story commented “I am incredibly proud to hear that a generous donation from a very dear friend has now taken the campaign total to over £75,000! I’m honestly blown away by the kindness and generosity of people who have supported this campaign when the hospice’s usual fundraising activities have been impacted so much by the Covid Pandemic. I’m even more proud to report that when the actual campaign amount of £76,362 is added to the amount of £24,479 that has been donated so far on Anita’s JustGiving page, the total raised by Anita – and in her memory – now stands at a phenomenal £101,841!”
Steve went on to say “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped out. I know that Anita would be so, so happy with this incredible result for the charity that helped her so much”.
Sharon Crymble Income Generation and Marketing Lead at East Lancashire Hospice commented “We are truly overwhelmed at the amazing amount raised to date as part of our Covid Pandemic Impact Appeal which is aimed at recouping an income generation deficit of over £650,000 due to the temporary closure of the hospice shops, warehouse and Café Retreat.
On behalf of everyone here at the hospice we would like to say a huge thank you to Steve Almond for allowing us to share Anita’s story and for the significant contribution which was generated by Anita herself and in her memory on her Just Giving page. It costs £3.9 million a year to run the hospice which equates to over £10,000 a day and as a charity we rely heavily on fundraising. All of the monies raised will go directly towards caring for our patients and supporting their families, and for that we are incredibly grateful”.
