Light Up a Life

We are delighted that this year, not only is our Light up a Life service returning, but it will be held in our wonderful hospice grounds.

Light up a Life is an opportunity for our community and beyond to remember loved ones no longer with us at this special time of year.

The event takes place on Monday 12th December at 4.30pm and 7.00pm, there will be readings, live music from the Lancashire Youth Brass Band, and Samlesbury Primary School will be singing Christmas Carols. We will also be providing refreshments and Christmas stalls for you to buy Christmas gifts.

There are two sessions on the evening to ensure everyone can make it. Guests can book on to either session, the 4.30pm – 6.00pm or the 7.00pm - 8.30pm. There is no charge for attending this event.

Ann Mason, our Individual Giving Fundraiser explained, “This event normally takes place at Blackburn Cathedral, but this year we have decided to move it to the lovely hospice grounds on Park Lee Road, doing this brings it back to the heart of our community for those who have lost loved ones.”

Ann continued; “we have not been able to hold our Light up a Life for the past two years due to Covid, and it has been sorely missed from our calendar, we are therefore looking forward to a wonderfully special event of music and lights. We are incredibly lucky to have Champ Funeral Services sponsoring this event and are grateful for their continued support.”

As you remember your loved ones during the evening, you will be able to enjoy live music, stories from the hospice, and readings. Following the service, and the most poignant and beautiful part of the evening, our trees will be lit in memory of our loved ones.

During the evening, you will have an opportunity to look in our Book of Remembrance and if you haven’t already, you can make a donation  to the hospice, and dedicate your Christmas bauble in the name of your loved one.

If you would like to attend either of the sessions, please telephone 01254 965877 or visit Light Up A Life 2022  where there is an opportunity to complete your dedication form in memory of someone you have lost.

The evening will finish with the lighting up of our beautiful trees as we come together in memory of those we have lost.
