Audrey Platt joined East Lancashire Hospice in 1995 as a Trustee, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a compassionate heart. Her commitment to the hospice quickly earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the community alike.
With a wealth of experience working as a Consultant Gynaecologist who served the health service for over 20 years; Audrey was the first female Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to care for patients across Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
Audrey’s journey with East Lancashire Hospice started in 1995 when she joined as a Trustee. Throughout her tenure, Audrey's passion for the hospice was evident in all that she did. In 2005, she assumed the role of Chairman, guiding the organisation with wisdom, and an unwavering dedication to our values. Under her leadership, East Lancashire Hospice flourished, touching countless lives and providing vital support to those in need.
After nearly two decades of support, Audrey Platt stepped down as Chairman in 2014 and died in April 2024 leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire us. Her impact on East Lancashire Hospice and the wider community was huge. Audrey dedicated her life to helping others as much as she could and her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
